Cases of wines and more wine..
The beginning of my little streak of holidays was on 22nd October to the wine region of NSW - Orange. This was the perfect way to ease into relaxation mode. Road trip on a Friday afternoon and by 6 we were out of Sydney. Now as any normal road trip we had our music (radio can be so much better here) and chatting and stop for toilet breaks and dinner at a small town pub, but we also had the added adventure most go through while driving at night through a forest area. I'm pretty sure you know where I'm heading with this, yes we got lost, yes in the middle of a whole bunch of trees and yes the cottage map, the road signs and the google maps all had different names for the same street. And as if that wasn't enough we saw an abandoned car, funnily enough that freaks 4 girls more than not seeing anyone. We did finally figure our way out and get to our cottage, which in the morning was so beautiful and totally worth the drive.
The whole purpose of this trip was to head to Orange for it's Wine week. We hired a bus and managed to hop through 5 vineyards on Saturday. You can only imagine what 11 girls with a LOT of wine can get up to, I will let your imagination go wild ;) We all landed up with cases of wines but rest assured I have learnt no one is a match for the UK/Irish gals, they just went all out and lasted longer than any of us. Needless to say by the time we got back to the cottage we were all beat and landed our selves on the couch with yet another glass of wine, a beautiful cheese platter and beautiful pasta for dinner. In our crazy happy states everything around us was - 'beautiful' - and so this became our word for the trip. Somehow after a few more drinks, attempts at dancing and playing games we made our way to bed. Only to wake up to the sound of rain gushing down.
That was the end of the girls going horse ridging which was a pity but we managed to relax and make the most of it with a slow morning. Now as I said the English girls managed to make their way to yet another vineyard and the rest of us expats got in and decided to make our way home. A short but 'beautiful' trip with a great stop in Katoomba for some delicious pumpkin soup in the weather that was best suited for June and not October.
