Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I’m not as regular as I used to be so if you perchance land on my site, I do hope you enjoy the past travel stories and I hope to start back again someday.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia

I’m overdue about my travels to Dubai and India, but somehow today feels like a day for my very own Sydney. On February 11, 2010 I completed 3 years of being in this city. On one hand it feels that the time went by so quickly but then when I think about what all has happened it feels like I’ve been in Sydney all my life.  After a lovely dinner in Cromone with a friend who I met in my first week of Uni here, Sydney feels just right and feels like home.

Driving over the Harbour Bridge tonight, the Opera House and the Sydney skyline just remind me of how beautiful this city is. After living here for so (relatively) long you tend to forget the things you appreciated so much in the beginning, but somehow the Opera House, even though it is the most clichéd building of the city, still makes me feel special. My favourite place for a catch up with one of my expat friends is the Opera Bar, sitting along the cushions that are laid out on the edge of the bar, is simply one of the most beautiful city sites.

This city has given me so much in the last three years, that I can't help but call it home as well. I have not only met some of the most interesting and important people in my life here but I have learned a hell of a lot about myself.  Having settled into a routine life in this city I often find myself complaining about so many aspects of this city, a very obvious one is it's shitty transport system. But to be honest you only start to complain about a city when you feel comfortable enough in it and have gotten over the initial awe and excitement of things being new and I love the fact that I feel that with Sydney.

I still, in all fairness, would not be able to give it the status of my favourite city, as that will always remain with my very own Bombay, but yes it's definitely up there as it gave me a second chance to live life the way I want to. So this for you Sydney and your diverse culture, friendly people, beautiful beaches and amazing restaurants and bars.
